In our first edition of My Tech Idol in 2024, say hello to Bala Loganathan, Senior Vice President – Global Delivery. Bala leads Tech Services Delivery for the HGS Digital team. Find out who inspires him when it comes to technology and more below.
My Tech Idol is:
Linus Torvalds
Linus Torvalds is known for:
Creating the Linux operating system and pioneering the open-source software movement, fostering collaboration and innovation in the tech community.
My first memory of Linus Torvalds:
In the early 2000s, I reached my limit with Windows' constant drama – crashes, viruses, and the whole shebang. I delved into alternative operating systems, and that's when Linus Torvalds and Linux came to my rescue. Discovering his role in developing Linux impressed me with the power of community-driven projects and the philosophy of open collaboration. Thanks, Linus, for saving my tech sanity!
Three ways Linus Torvalds has inspired me:
•Open Source Philosophy
•Community Building
•Continuous Innovation
One question I would ask Linus Torvalds at a dinner party and why:
“As AI technology, co-piloting, and low-code/no-code models advance rapidly, I'm curious about the evolving role of open-source software. How do you envision its future, and what challenges and opportunities do you anticipate for the next generation of developers?” This question mirrors my keen interest in the trajectory of open-source and aims to uncover insights into its adaptation within a dynamically changing tech landscape.
