Kelly is one of our Duty Team Managers at HGS UK. She shares with us her insights on mentorship at HGS.
How would you describe the support/mentorship in HGS?
I have had a tremendous level of support from my mentors at HGS.
I have learned a lot from all my Team Managers as they all have their way of doing things and it is a great process of learning different methods. Every one of them is reassuring and happy to answer any questions I may have.
How has your mentor helped you shape and develop your career in HGS?
Stacey boosted my confidence with constant support. This enabled me to apply and get the lead compliance role. I was also given the opportunity to stand in for Stacey while she was away. She gave me great feedback on her return on how I did and things to be improved. Stacey is always happy for me to call her for any help/support I need.
Jodie was my Team Manager during a period, and she encouraged me to give agents feedback/coaching and she would spend time confirming what was required with me.
David - Team Manager, always made time to have regular meetings with me to discuss feedback/coaching I was doing with the other agents.
Kris, my Team Manager in Preston, offered to help coach me to get to where I wanted to be within the business. Kris made time to have regular meetings and taught me a lot about coaching with open questions and how to document this in a better way than I had been doing. When I applied for another role, Kris took time to coach me on things to focus on and examples I should remember for the interview.
Andi Lees has been my support and is an amazing mentor. He always makes time for me if I need guidance. I have required some support and Andi has been there every step of the way.
Karen is always happy to speak to me and give me guidance and encouragement. She has given me a lot of experience which I feel has helped me progress. She is very approachable and always happy to make time to mentor.
What have you learned from your mentor that inspires you?
All my mentors at HGS have shown that they have confidence in their people which helps us progress consistently. This has inspired me to lead by example and has impacted my mentoring style significantly.
